Aion 2 Skills, Stigmas and Macros Guide

How Aion 2 combat, skill points, chain skills, dodges, stigmas and in-game macros work — with setup tips, thresholds and what to leave out.

You will press the same buttons every night. This guide shows how combat actually works, how skill points, Stigmas and Arcana and Daevanion raise them past 10, and what belongs in a macro versus what must stay manual. See the class choice in Class Tier List and the board plan in Daevanion Guide. Overview in Beginner Guide.

How combat works: no auto-combat, chains and i-frames

There is no auto-combat. Two targeting modes exist.

  • Aion 2 mode, the modern scheme. Your reticle picks targets, with a hard lock to track and kite while you move.
  • Aion 1 mode, the traditional cursor scheme for players who want the classic feel.

Both sit between tab-target and full action: more manual than a classic MMO, with enough target assistance that you are never fighting the camera.

Three mechanics decide most fights:

  • Skill chains, an ability transforms on the same hotkey as you press it. A chain that reads “three presses” is one key, not three keys.
  • Animation lock, committing to a long attack at the wrong moment leaves you unable to dodge the next hit. There is no cancel and no escape mid-cast. Wait for the boss tell, then commit.
  • Dodge i-frames, a timed dodge has real invincibility frames. If timed right, it blocks the full damage. Add a little extra lead time on higher ping.

A clean opening beats spamming: pre-buff, meter builder, gap closer, main chain, then hold a defensive for the boss's next wind-up.

Skill points, wisdom shards and level thresholds

Active and passive skills level with wisdom shards. Skill points raise a single ability to level 10. The breaks that add major traits are:

Skill level What happens
8 First major trait
10 Cap with points alone
12 Next trait, needs Daevanion
16 Top trait, needs Daevanion

Resets for skills and Stigmas are free. Experiment costs nothing.

So: level your left-click skill first on every class. It restores MP on use and you press it constantly, so it pays back the shards fastest. Leveling-side advice is the same across creators, do not make a leveling-only build for the short trip to 45. Build toward your endgame Stigma tree from the start, because resets are free and the time is too short to need a swap.

Daevanion and Arcana together push past 10. See Daevanion Guide for the corner-first route and Transcendence and Arcana Guide for the Arcana set side.

Stigmas: what they are and how they level

Stigmas are an extra skill line, a separate panel of abilities outside the normal skill tree that adds skills and passives on top of it.

  • A quest around level 35 unlocks Stigma abilities; only part of the full panel can be equipped at once.
  • Stigma leveling uses its own shards, not wisdom shards, and those shards can be bought with Abyss Points.
  • The choice is part of the endgame build. Plan toward your role, tank, healer, burst melee, control, rather than leveling a random spread.
  • Like skills, resets are free.

Arcana and Daevanion boards in brief

Two systems together carry skills past the 10 cap.

  • Daevanion, the talent board you fill while leveling and after 45. Take corners first, then the thresholds you need next. Full route in Daevanion Guide.
  • Arcana, the card set system tied to Transcendence dungeons. Transcendence has four difficulty levels, each bulking up monsters and adding a new debuff along with a better reward.

Setting up macros that actually help

The in-game macro editor saves a short sequence to one hotkey. What belongs in a macro is what you always press together.

steps

  1. Put chain sequences that are always pressed together into the macro: buff order, meter builder into gap closer, core damage chain.
  2. Keep reactive abilities out of the macro. Dodge, interrupt and long-cooldown ultimates must stay manual. A macro cannot read the boss tell.
  3. Place the macro where your fingers rest. A PvE chain macro belongs on the key you can hold through a long fight without reaching.
  4. Test on a dummy, not on a boss. Run the chain, watch whether the last hit actually fires, then move it to a boss that moves.

Keybindings and settings for Aion 2

Keep dodge and interrupt on the keys easiest to hit without looking. Put the hard-lock toggle where you can hit it while kiting. Reticle sensitivity should keep target assist helpful without pulling your camera off the boss.

Global runs on Unreal Engine 5 with both control modes available. Start in Aion 2 mode unless you genuinely prefer the classic cursor controls, and take two minutes to rebuild your HUD around your class before you dive in.

Combat rhythm: buffs, meter and gap closers

How to open a boss

  • Solo on story bosses, buff, scroll, gap closer, chain, then hold a defensive. Do not burn a long animation while the boss winds up. If you are low, dodge first, chain second.

The rhythm is the same after the open: buff, meter, gap closer, chain, defensive, repeat. See Dungeons Guide for dungeon and Conquest boss mechanics, and Alts Guide for how an alt party covers them.

Aion 2 Skills and Macros FAQ

FAQ

What is a Stigma?

An extra skill line unlocked around level 35 and raised with its own shards, not wisdom shards. It adds skills outside the normal tree and is part of the endgame build; resets are free.

How do I set up macros?

In the macro editor, save a chain that you always press together, buffs, meter and gap closers, to one hotkey. Keep dodges, interrupts and long cooldowns manual.

How high do skills level with points alone?

To 10. The 12 and 16 thresholds need Daevanion (and, at the top, Arcana).

Does Aion 2 have auto-combat?

No. Two targeting modes exist, chains transform on one key, dodges have i-frames, and animation lock punishes committing at the wrong moment.
