Aion 2 Alt Farming Math: How Many Characters Before Kinah Drops Off

The weekly Kinah ladder behind Aion 2 alts, worked out: unbound Kinah and dungeon hours for one to eight characters, free-to-play versus membership.

11 min read

Every extra character in Aion 2 is another set of Odyle Energy and another set of Conquest reward cubes, and every cube pays unbound Kinah. What stops you from making ten alts is not a character limit alone. It is a weekly reward ladder: past a certain number of cube claims on one server, each cube pays less.

This page works that ladder out for one to eight characters, for a free-to-play account and for a membership account, in Kinah per week and in hours of dungeon time. The model and the numbers are Blazeon's, built from the Taiwanese client ahead of the global launch, so treat them as the shape of the curve rather than final global values. For what alts share and how to gear one cheaply, see the Alts Guide; for the rest of the series, start at the Beginner Guide.

The weekly Kinah ladder that limits alts

The game shows the rule in a window called Cumulative Play Reward Adjustment. Play counts are added up weekly on a per-server basis, and once that count passes a threshold, the Kinah from Odyle Energy cubes is cut. The further past the threshold, the bigger the cut.

The Cumulative Play Reward Adjustment window: 0-83 plays pay 100%, 84-104 pay 80%, 105-125 pay 60%, 126-146 pay 40%, and 147 or more pay 20%. Source: Blazeon

Plays already counted this week Kinah per cube
0-83 100%
84-104 80%
105-125 60%
126-146 40%
147 and up 20%

Put simply, the first 84 cube claims of the week pay in full, and every block of 21 after that pays 20 points less. Blazeon's model counts every Conquest cube claim from every character on the server toward one shared total. The window words it as play counts "for each game mode"; the tables below follow Blazeon's reading of one shared counter.

The inputs: energy, cube cost, Kinah per cube and time per run

Everything below comes from five numbers.

  • Energy regeneration. 10 Odyle Energy every 3 hours free-to-play, which is 80 a day and 560 a week. Membership raises it to 15 every 3 hours: 120 a day, 840 a week.
  • Cube cost. One Conquest reward cube costs 40 energy. That gives 14 cube claims a week per free-to-play character and 21 per membership character.
  • Kinah per cube in Conquest. 200,000 in Krao Cave, 300,000 in Urugugu Canyon and 400,000 in Fire Temple. Exploration pays bound Kinah and is left out of the model on purpose.
  • Time per run. 9 minutes. Blazeon picks it as an average across classes and gear, and says a strong account clears in 6 or 7 minutes while a weaker one takes 12.
  • Energy counted. Passive regeneration only. Energy from crafting, the vendor, events, mail or a pass is not included.

Because every figure scales with Kinah per cube, you can read one dungeon and work out the others: Urugugu Canyon pays three quarters of Fire Temple, and Krao Cave pays half. The tables on this page use Fire Temple.

Free-to-play: six characters at full value

At 14 claims a week, six free-to-play characters make exactly 84 claims, the last claim that pays 100%. The seventh character's 14 claims land in the 80% band, and the eighth splits between 80% for its first seven and 60% for its last seven. Across all eight the account averages 93.8%.

Characters Dungeon time per week Account average payout Fire Temple Kinah per week
1 2.1 h 100% 5.6M
2 4.2 h 100% 11.2M
3 6.3 h 100% 16.8M
4 8.4 h 100% 22.4M
5 10.5 h 100% 28.0M
6 12.6 h 100% 33.6M
7 14.7 h 97.1% 38.08M
8 16.8 h 93.8% 42.0M

In practice the ladder does not touch a free-to-play account at launch. Blazeon expects four character slots per server on global, with a fifth and sixth sold as paid unlocks, and a free-to-play player never reaches the first cut with fewer than seven characters. Four characters on Fire Temple is 400,000 × 14 × 4 = 22.4 million unbound Kinah a week, or 16.8 million in Urugugu Canyon and 11.2 million in Krao Cave.

The time cost of those four is 9 minutes × 14 runs × 4 characters = 504 minutes a week, about 1 hour 12 minutes a day.

Membership: more runs per character, earlier falloff

Membership changes the math in two directions. Each character regenerates half again as much energy, so it makes 21 claims a week instead of 14. But the account reaches claim 84 after only four characters, so the falloff starts at the fifth. Blazeon also notes that membership covers every character on the server, not one character, and that it is the same membership you need anyway to sell on the market (see the Kinah Farming Guide).

Blazeon's membership summary slide with weekly unbound Kinah flattening after character 4 and marginal Kinah per hour falling from character 5

The membership summary: 120 energy a day, 21 runs a week and 3.15 hours per character, characters 1 to 4 at 100% and a 75.0% account average at eight characters. Source: Blazeon

Characters Dungeon time per week Account average payout Fire Temple Kinah per week
1 3.15 h 100% 8.4M
2 6.3 h 100% 16.8M
3 9.45 h 100% 25.2M
4 12.6 h 100% 33.6M
5 15.75 h 96.0% 40.32M
6 18.9 h 90.0% 45.36M
7 22.05 h 82.9% 48.72M
8 25.2 h 75.0% 50.4M

Each added character is worth less than the one before it, by a full band:

  • Characters 1-4: 100%, the first 84 claims.
  • Character 5: 80%.
  • Character 6: 60%.
  • Character 7: 40%.
  • Character 8: 20%, a fifth of what the first character earns for the same 3.15 hours.

Four membership characters on Fire Temple make 33.6 million a week, against 22.4 million for four free-to-play characters. A fifth adds 6.72 million rather than 8.4 million.

Double cubes: the same Kinah in about half the time

Blazeon's third play style is a membership account that claims two cubes per clear. It does not create extra energy or extra claims: the same 21 claims are packaged into fewer dungeon runs. Because 21 is odd, that is ten double-cube clears and one single-cube clear, 11 clears per character instead of 21.

Blazeon's rules slide comparing free-to-play, one-cube membership and two-cube membership, with the shared weekly diminishing-return ladder

The model's rules: 14 cube claims and 2.10 hours per free-to-play character, 21 claims and 3.15 hours with membership, and the same 21 claims in 11 clears and 1.65 hours with double cubes. Source: Blazeon

So the weekly Kinah is identical to one-cube membership at every character count, but the dungeon time drops to 1.65 hours per character. That is less time than a free-to-play character spends for fewer claims:

  • Five membership characters on double cubes: 11 × 9 × 5 = 495 minutes a week, about 1 hour 10 minutes a day, for 40.32 million in Fire Temple.
  • Four free-to-play characters: 504 minutes a week, about 1 hour 12 minutes a day, for 22.4 million.

Kinah versus time: the three play styles side by side

Blazeon's final page puts all three styles on one chart per dungeon: dungeon time on one axis, weekly unbound Kinah on the other, one marker per character count.

Fire Temple, per week:

Characters Free-to-play Membership, one cube Membership, two cubes
1 5.6M in 2.1 h 8.4M in 3.15 h 8.4M in 1.65 h
2 11.2M in 4.2 h 16.8M in 6.3 h 16.8M in 3.3 h
3 16.8M in 6.3 h 25.2M in 9.45 h 25.2M in 4.95 h
4 22.4M in 8.4 h 33.6M in 12.6 h 33.6M in 6.6 h
5 28.0M in 10.5 h 40.32M in 15.75 h 40.32M in 8.25 h
6 33.6M in 12.6 h 45.36M in 18.9 h 45.36M in 9.9 h
7 38.08M in 14.7 h 48.72M in 22.05 h 48.72M in 11.55 h
8 42.0M in 16.8 h 50.4M in 25.2 h 50.4M in 13.2 h

Two things stand out. The double-cube line climbs steeply and then bends hard after four characters, which is the ladder. And the one-cube membership line runs along the free-to-play line: both cost 9 minutes per claim, so the same Kinah takes the same time (16.8 million is 6.3 hours either way). Only double cubes buy the Kinah faster.

How many alts to make

How many characters on one server?

  • Free-to-play: fill every slot you have. Nothing is reduced below seven characters, so four characters (the expected global slot count) are all at full value. The limit is your time: about 1 hour 12 minutes a day for four in Blazeon's model.
  • Membership: four characters at full value, a fifth is still good. The fifth pays 80% and, on double cubes, five characters take about the same daily time as four free-to-play ones.
  • Membership, sixth character: in Blazeon's words, not as problematic as people think. Six on double cubes is 594 minutes a week, about 1 hour 25 minutes a day, against 1 hour 10 minutes for five. The sixth pays 60% per cube, a small increase for a small amount of extra time.
  • Seventh and eighth: your call on the numbers. Blazeon does not weigh in on them. On membership they pay 40% and 20% per cube, so the eighth earns a fifth of what the first does for the same run time.

This sits alongside, rather than against, the advice in the Alts Guide: start with one alt and make it Conquest-ready before making the next. The math here is the ceiling on what a finished roster can earn; how fast you can gear that roster to farm Fire Temple is a separate question.

What the model leaves out

Alt farming FAQ

FAQ

When does Aion 2 start reducing Kinah from alts?

After 84 Conquest cube claims on one server in a week. Claims 85 to 105 pay 80%, and every further block of 21 pays 20 points less, down to 20%.

How many characters can a free-to-play player run before the reduction?

Six, at 14 claims each. A free-to-play account with the four slots expected at global launch never reaches the reduction on passive energy alone.

Is membership worth it for alt farming?

In Blazeon's model, yes. Four membership characters make 33.6 million unbound Kinah a week in Fire Temple against 22.4 million free-to-play, and with double cubes five membership characters take about the same daily time as four free-to-play ones.

How much time does alt farming take a day?

About 1 hour 12 minutes for four free-to-play characters, about 1 hour 10 minutes for five membership characters on double cubes, and about 1 hour 25 minutes for six, all at 9 minutes a run.

Which dungeon should alts farm?

The one with the most Kinah per cube that the character can clear: Fire Temple at 400,000, then Urugugu Canyon at 300,000, then Krao Cave at 200,000. The ladder cuts every dungeon by the same percentage.
