Aion 2 Fire Temple Guide: Every Boss and Mechanic

Every Fire Temple boss in order with telegraph and counter, the coolant and Obelisk route, wall-dodge phases, and whether the drops are worth repeat runs.

Fire Temple is the 3-star expedition. Its two mid-bosses are straightforward once you know their one tell each; the final boss and the route between them are what decide whether you see it fall. This page is room-by-room, with what to bring, where to go and what each boss actually does. For the bigger system, star order, item levels and Odyle Energy, see Dungeons: Expeditions and Odyle Energy. Back to the Beginner Guide.

What to bring into Fire Temple

steps

  1. Buy four scrolls before you queue: Scroll of Courage, Scroll of Haste, a shock-mitigation scroll and a fourth whose effect isn't clear from the source video. Dope up again before the final boss room.
  2. Buy healing potions and equip them on your quickslot bar. Any hit in Fire Temple applies a burn debuff that lasts 10 seconds and hurts heavily — drink a potion every time you're burned.
  3. Know who tanks. Aggro on the final boss usually sits on a Templar or Gladiator; agree who holds it before you pull.

No Heroic gear is needed — Heroic items aren't available anywhere at global launch.

The route: coolant points and the Obelisk

steps

  1. Activate the two Coolant Supply points and the Obelisk, avoiding aggro from trash mobs and the mid-boss along the way. The Obelisk's location is shown on the map; the two coolant points are marked on the minimap.
  2. Reach the upper coolant point via the jump-glide shortcut down the cliff from the left boss room; reach the lower one by hugging the wall at the very bottom to avoid trash aggro. Once you've touched a coolant point, you can deliberately die to trash mobs and revive back at the Obelisk.
  3. Once both coolant points are active, the falling AoE zones across the map stop — that's the signal you're ready to fight the first boss, on the left.
  4. In a Korean 4-player run, two players activate the coolant points while the third activates the Obelisk. A 5-player global party has an extra player to split this work with.

Skipping a coolant point doesn't wipe you outright, but the falling AoE zones across the map won't stop until both are on.

Fire Temple's first boss

Fire Temple's second boss and the shortcut route

steps

  1. The standard route hugs the wall. There's also a shortcut: climb the jutting rock on the right and jump-glide across. It saves time, but players unfamiliar with it often fall to their death, and dying there means running all the way back from the Obelisk — sometimes dragging a train of trash mobs with you. Use it only if you're confident; otherwise just walk.
  2. The second boss is easier than the first — you can beat it without thinking much about mechanics. Its one pattern: it grabs a fireball in its hand, then curses two random players with a debuff that drops a long-lasting fire zone at their feet. If you're one of them, drop your zone toward the edge of the arena, not the center. The rest of its attacks are unremarkable.
  3. After the second boss, glide back to the Obelisk, enter the temple, and hug the left wall toward the final boss. This avoids most trash aggro, though one or two mobs usually still notice — kill them at the entrance before heading in.

Fire Temple final boss: every chip-damage telegraph

Telegraph Tell Counter
Bow up Boss draws its bow and shoots upward Keep moving with a mobility skill; a rain of zones falls over each player's head, and moving dodges all of it
Bow down Boss draws and shoots downward; a fire arrow travels along the ground toward you Notice it heading your way and dodge sideways in advance — a hit takes off almost half your HP
Rise + clone Boss rises up high and a clone appears over each player, slams down, then charges forward with a wide fan-shaped slash Dodge the clone's first slam, then use a mobility skill again for the fan-shaped follow-up — either hit takes off over half your HP. Moving behind the clone is easier than dodging its wide frontal slash
Rise + arrow Boss rises high and fires an arrow, detonating a personal zone and charging one random player, for three zones total Ranged DPS dodge quickly with a mobility skill; melee DPS block the last, larger zone with a Guard skill
Sword back Boss holds its sword back It's about to charge the farthest player; watch the wind-up and dodge with a mobility skill
Frontal flurry Boss flurries repeatedly toward whoever holds aggro (usually the Templar or Gladiator) Melee DPS should move directly behind the boss the instant the forward-slash animation starts; the area behind it is safe, while blocking or healing through it in front costs both the healer's and your own DPS window

None of these one-shot on their own, but the ground fire arrow takes off almost half your HP and the clone's slam or its follow-up slash take off over half — stay on top of your potions between patterns.

Final boss phases: the wall-dodge gimmicks and the empowered stretch

steps

  1. Normal pattern. Work through the six chip-damage telegraphs above; they keep cycling until the boss's health bar drops by a segment.
  2. Wall-dodge gimmick, twice. When the boss's health drops by one segment, and again at the second segment, a wall-dodge mechanic triggers — there's no reason to move forward, just move left or right to avoid the walls. On the second wall-dodge phase, fire arrows fly in from the sides at the same time: dodge the arrow first from a safe spot outside its path, then keep moving side to side for the walls.
  3. Empowered stretch. Once the second wall-dodge gimmick ends, the boss's chip patterns get stronger: the ground fire-arrow pattern fires twice in a row instead of once, and every telegraph hits much harder. From here, getting hit even once puts you in a near-death state.

Fire Temple drops: worth farming after your first clear?

Fire Temple FAQ

FAQ

How many bosses are in Fire Temple?

Three: two mid-bosses and a final boss with six chip-damage telegraphs, two wall-dodge phases and an empowered final stretch.

What do coolant points and the Obelisk do?

Two Coolant Supply points and one Obelisk need to be activated near the entrance. Until both coolant points are on, falling AoE zones keep appearing across the map. The Obelisk also works as a revival point.

Why does the final boss feel harder than the first two?

It has six different chip-damage telegraphs instead of one or two, two wall-dodge phases, and an empowered final stretch where a single hit can put you near death.

Are Fire Temple drops worth repeat runs on global?

Not really. Its drops are low item level and get replaced quickly, and there's no unique-item reward besides one low-level weapon — Korean guides recommend clearing it once and spending your Odyle Energy on better-value dungeons instead.
