Aion 2 Ranger Guide: Skills, Stigmas and Build

Master the Ranger class in Aion 2. Learn about bow skills, early leveling priorities, Stigmas, Daevanion boards, macros, PvE, PvP, and best gear setups.

The Ranger is the definitive mobile ranged DPS in Aion 2. Equipped with a bow, you deal high sustained damage while kiting enemies around the battlefield.

This page is built around one question: where do your points go, and when. It gives the character level each skill arrives at, which skills to raise first, the specialty to take at each skill level, how a freshly levelled 45 spends its points, and which skills go to 20 after that. Stigmas, Daevanion, macros and rotations follow. For a broader look at combat mechanics, check out our Skills, Stigmas and Macros overview.

The macro, in short

If you only want the rotation, here is a setup that works. Every step in this macro runs on a 10 ms delay.

steps

  1. Griffon Arrow
  2. Snipe
  3. Gale Arrow

Snipe sits in the middle, so the auto-attack keeps feeding mana between the two heavier arrows.

The skill levels in that panel come from a live server and run past anything global has on day one, so copy the order rather than the numbers.

A Korean guide covering the same class: Macro settings and Ranger PvE tips most players do not know by Ddangwooyang.

The rest of this page is the build behind that chain: what to level first, which Stigmas carry it, and where the Daevanion points go.

Ranger role, weapon and playstyle

Ranger is a pure ranged DPS class that uses a bow and relies heavily on MP. The core damage mechanisms revolve around your left-click (Snipe) and right-click (Tempest Shot) skills, which are constantly spammed.

Rangers are extremely fragile, often described as having a "paper" defense. This means you must rely on your high mobility to survive boss attacks and monster pulls. You never stand still; kiting is your primary defense.

You can augment your bow by equipping a Godstone. Adding Boreas's Encouragement grants fire damage and visually ignites your bow, giving you both a damage boost and a fiery aesthetic.

Build order: what to level and when

Five parts, in the order you meet them: how points and specialties work, the level-by-level order, a real level 45 allocation, the specialty picks, and the targets after 45. To see how to reach level 45 quickly, read our Leveling Guide.

How skill points, levels and specialties work

Every skill starts at level 1 and is raised with mastery points in the skill window. Points take a skill to level 10 and no further. The game data sets the price and what each level opens:

Skill level Mastery points What it opens
2 to 4 1 per level A stronger skill only
5 to 7 2 per level A stronger skill only
8 4 First specialty slot and a choice of three specialties
9 and 10 4 per level The cap for mastery points
12 Daevanion, gear or Arcana Second slot and the fourth specialty
16 Daevanion, gear or Arcana The fifth specialty
20 Daevanion, gear or Arcana Third slot

So a skill costs 13 points to reach 8 and 21 to reach 10. Your character level is the second limit: after you learn a skill, it can go up one level every three character levels. Snipe, learned at level 1, can reach 8 at character level 19 and 10 at 25. Deadshot, learned at 14, can reach 8 at 32 and 10 at 38. Three late passives are the exception: Melee Fire (21), Revitalization Contract (23) and Hunter's Soul (25) can take all ten levels the moment you learn them.

The budget is the third. aLuckyRO counts about 250 points on a Gladiator that has just reached 45, and around 420 at end game. His freshly levelled Ranger, below, had spent about 265 by our count, pricing each level he bought at the game's costs and leaving out the bonus levels, and he reminds you that part of those points come from the Monolith, so do not skip it. Either way, at 21 points a skill you cannot take everything to 10 by 45. Resets are free, so a wrong choice only costs you the time to reassign it.

Level 1 to 45, step by step

Each block below puts the unlock levels from the game data next to where the sources put their points. The sources cover the early levels; from 26 on, the "Where the points go" lines are aLuckyRO's finished 45 laid over the level gates. They agree on the first step: your two mouse-button skills. After that, Focused Eye and Hunter's Resolve are the passives aLuckyRO, Ojijo, Taegi and Domo all raise, though Taegi mastered Vigilant Eye and Wind Vigor first.

Levels 1 to 8

  • Skills learned:  Snipe,  Snare Shot,  Tempest Shot,  Vigilant Eye (1),  Marking Shot (3),  Drill Dart (4),  Arrow Scattershot (5),  Concentrated Fire (6),  Gale Arrow (7),  Explosion Trap (8)
  • Actives that can reach 8: None yet
  • Where the points go: Snipe and Tempest Shot to the highest level your character allows

Levels 9 to 18

  • Skills learned:  Wind Vigor (9),  Burst Arrow (10),  Focused Eye (11),  Suppressing Arrow (12),  Hunter's Resolve (13),  Deadshot (14),  Unyielding Resolve (15),  Defiance (16),  Rooting Eye (17)
  • Actives that can reach 8: None yet
  • Where the points go: Keep both clicks capped, then Focused Eye and Hunter's Resolve. Vigilant Eye and Wind Vigor if story bosses keep killing you

Levels 19 to 25

  • Skills learned:  Melee Fire (21), Stigmas (22),  Revitalization Contract (23),  Hunter's Soul (25)
  • Actives that can reach 8:  Snipe,  Snare Shot,  Tempest Shot (19),  Marking Shot (21),  Drill Dart (22),  Arrow Scattershot (23),  Gale Arrow (25)
  • Where the points go: First specialties on Snipe and Tempest Shot at 19; both can reach 10 at 25. Snare Shot to 8 for its mobile cast

Levels 26 to 38

  • Skills learned: Nothing new
  • Actives that can reach 8:  Explosion Trap (26),  Burst Arrow (28),  Suppressing Arrow (30),  Deadshot (32),  Defiance (34)
  • Where the points go: Explosion Trap to 8 at 26 and 10 at 32, Deadshot to 8 at 32 and 10 at 38, Burst Arrow and Defiance to 8 as each one unlocks; Suppressing Arrow stays at 1

Levels 39 to 45

  • Skills learned: Nothing new
  • Actives that can reach 8: Nothing new
  • Where the points go: Finish Focused Eye and Hunter's Resolve and spend what is left, as in the next section

Where that advice comes from: Domo, Ojijo and Taegi, in videos from November 2025, all put Snipe and Tempest Shot first. Domo says the two clicks alone will carry you through the main-quest bosses, because the other skills have a cast delay that gets you hit, and Ojijo says that if the level-20 awakening boss stops you, it is because the clicks are under-levelled. Society of Gaming gives the same rule for every class. Ojijo aims both clicks at 12 with the Daevanion skill nodes, and when your character level holds a skill at 7 he spends one node to lift it to 8 early; he takes Marking Shot to 8 and wants Explosion Trap there quickly. An Inven review from 22 November 2025 says solo play gets steady once Snipe's HP absorb and Explosion Trap's pull are in. aLuckyRO's rule of thumb is three skills at 10 and the rest at 8. For passives, aLuckyRO goes straight to Focused Eye and Hunter's Resolve, Ojijo puts a little into Vigilant Eye for the HP it restores and then raises only those two, while Taegi mastered Vigilant Eye and Wind Vigor first to survive the story bosses and took the two damage passives to 10 after.

Where the points go at level 45

aLuckyRO levelled a new Ranger to 45, with no pet or wing passives, for his beginner build and spent every point like this. The levels are as his skill window shows them; the number in brackets is the part that comes from outside the skill window and costs no points.

the Ranger skill window at level 45, with the level of every active and passive skill

A freshly levelled 45: Tempest Shot, Explosion Trap and Deadshot at 10, most other actives at 8, Marking Shot and Suppressing Arrow left at 1, and Focused Eye and Hunter's Resolve at 10. Source: aLuckyRO

Skill Level Specialty he takes
Tempest Shot 10 -20% MP consumed
Explosion Trap 10 Extra damage after 3 s on hit
 Deadshot 10 +30% Skill Speed
 Snipe 8 +20% MP restored
Snare Shot 8 Changes to mobile skill
Burst Arrow 8 Absorbs 10% HP
 Drill Dart 8 (+1) Absorbs 3% HP
 Arrow Scattershot 8 (+1) Absorbs 5% HP
 Gale Arrow 8 (+1) +5 s duration
Defiance 8 (+1) Restores 20% HP on use
Marking Shot,  Suppressing Arrow 1 None
Focused Eye,  Hunter's Resolve,  Melee Fire 10 each Passives
 Vigilant Eye 12 (+2) Passive
 Hunter's Soul 11 (+1) Passive
 Rooting Eye 9 Passive
 Concentrated Fire 6 (+1) Passive
Wind Vigor,  Unyielding Resolve,  Revitalization Contract 1 to 3, the last two with bonus levels Passives

His three at 10 are Tempest Shot, Explosion Trap and Deadshot, and the other actives stop at 8. The picks lean on MP for the two clicks and on HP absorption for Drill Dart, Arrow Scattershot and Burst Arrow, and Snare Shot is made mobile because, in his words, a Ranger caught even by monsters is dead. Marking Shot stays at 1; he calls it pointless this early. Of the passives he puts Focused Eye first, then Hunter's Resolve, and says Wind Vigor, Unyielding Resolve and Revitalization Contract matter little in PvE.

Specialty picks for the main skills

A skill has five specialties. You use one at skill levels 8 to 11, two from 12, and three from 20, so the order below is the order you slot them in. The options are from the game data; the picks are the creators'.

the Tempest Shot skill page with the minus twenty percent mana consumed specialty selected

Tempest Shot with the -20% MP consumed specialty taken, the upgrade that stops your right-click spam from emptying the mana bar. Source: aLuckyRO

 Snipe

  • At skill level 8, pick one of: +20% MP restored; absorbs 0.7% HP; +50% Multi-Hit on hit
  • At 12 and 16: 12: each hit cuts 1 s off Deadshot's cooldown. 16: adds the Tempest Arrow chain
  • Who picks what: Levelling: MP restored (aLuckyRO) or HP absorb (Inven review). End game: Multi-Hit plus the 12 and 16 options (CHEONHAJIN, Rene); Gamjossi fixes the 12 and 16 options and leaves the third to taste

 Tempest Shot

  • At skill level 8, pick one of: -20% MP consumed; +10% skill Critical Hit; up to +12% damage when fewer targets are hit
  • At 12 and 16: 12: 5% chance to Knock Back on a Critical Hit. 16: +20% Skill Speed
  • Who picks what: Levelling: -20% MP (aLuckyRO). End game: Critical Hit, fewer targets and Skill Speed (CHEONHAJIN, Eddu PG, Gamjossi in July, who advises against -20% MP); Gamjossi in August stops at 16 with fewer targets and Skill Speed

 Deadshot

  • At skill level 8, pick one of: removes the MP cost; +30% Skill Speed; usable while moving
  • At 12 and 16: 12: ignores Block and Evasion and lands as a Multi-Hit. 16: extra damage on hit
  • Who picks what: Levelling: Skill Speed (aLuckyRO). End game: Skill Speed, moving and the 16 option (Gamjossi, CHEONHAJIN, Eddu PG); for top damage Rene swaps moving for the 12 option, which means charging it standing still

 Gale Arrow

  • At skill level 8, pick one of: +5 s duration; 50% chance to Knock Back; usable while moving
  • At 12 and 16: 12: more Combat Speed and PvE and PvP damage when fewer targets are hit. 16: -10 s cooldown
  • Who picks what: Levelling: +5 s duration (aLuckyRO). End game: moving plus the 12 and 16 options (Gamjossi, CHEONHAJIN, Rene, Eddu PG)

 Drill Dart

  • At skill level 8, pick one of: absorbs 3% HP; +2 s Bleed; +20% Skill Speed
  • At 12 and 16: 12: Multi-Hit on hit. 16: activates one extra time
  • Who picks what: Levelling: HP absorb (aLuckyRO). End game: HP absorb, Skill Speed and the 16 option (Gamjossi, Eddu PG); Skill Speed plus the 12 and 16 options (CHEONHAJIN); the 12 and 16 options with HP absorb (Rene)

 Snare Shot

  • At skill level 8, pick one of: +20% Move Speed reduction; +20% Skill Speed; usable while moving
  • At 12 and 16: 12: adds the Shackling Arrow chain. 16: +2 s Slow and Root
  • Who picks what: Levelling: moving (aLuckyRO). End game: Skill Speed and moving at 12 (Gamjossi, CHEONHAJIN). Rene, in his September video, and BBANGHOBBANG, in an Inven post from September, add the Shackling Arrow chain, which Gamjossi warns drains MP

 Marking Shot

  • At skill level 8, pick one of: +5% Perfect Chance for the duration; 30% chance to Knock Back; +5 s duration
  • At 12 and 16: 12: +1 consecutive use. 16: ignores Block and Evasion and lands as a Critical Hit
  • Who picks what: Left at 1 early (aLuckyRO). End game: Perfect Chance and duration at 12 (Gamjossi, CHEONHAJIN, Rene)

 Burst Arrow

  • At skill level 8, pick one of: absorbs 10% HP; +50% Multi-Hit on hit; usable while moving
  • At 12 and 16: 12: up to +20% damage when fewer targets are hit. 16: 25% chance to reset its cooldown
  • Who picks what: Levelling: HP absorb (aLuckyRO). End game: optional. Moving plus the 12 option (Gamjossi, Rene); Gamjossi says to skip the 16 option if you fully charge Deadshot

The core payoff skills behave like this in the game data. Deadshot is a charge shot with three charge levels that deals 35% more damage while you have Precision, the +300 Critical Hit that Marking Shot grants for 10 seconds. Gamjossi calls the two a set. He and CHEONHAJIN both say a full charge does the most damage, though Gamjossi fires his on the first charge. Gale Arrow grants Gale for 10 seconds: +7% Combat Speed, +7% PvE Damage Boost and +3.5% PvP Damage Boost. CHEONHAJIN skips Gale Arrow's duration option because Vaizel's Authority keeps the buff running anyway.

For the rest: Explosion Trap offers a pull, +1 s Stun or extra damage after 3 s at 8, +20% Stun Chance at 12 and a second use at 16. aLuckyRO takes the extra damage, Gamjossi uses it in PvE only for the pull and says 8 to 10 is enough, and CHEONHAJIN takes it off his bar. Defiance stays at 8 with Restores 20% HP for aLuckyRO; Gamjossi and CHEONHAJIN take it to 12 for HP and Stamina, or Gamjossi's alternative, +2 s Tenacity, and Gamjossi says never to take its Lightning Arrow chain. Arrow Scattershot only hits a Staggered target: Rene takes it to 16 with Multi-Hit and the -1 s cooldowns option and fires it in place of Snipe while a boss is staggered, while Gamjossi says to throw it away and CHEONHAJIN calls it trash. Suppressing Arrow is left at 1 by aLuckyRO and unused in PvE by Gamjossi, CHEONHAJIN and Rene.

After 45: which skills go to 16 and 20

Past skill level 10, the extra levels come from elsewhere. An Inven guide lists the sources: up to +4 on a skill from the Daevanion board, +1 from each ring for up to two skills, +1 each from the weapon and the guard, and +1 per Arcana card that carries the skill. Global launches with skill and stigma levels capped at 20, according to CrusherXGaming. Level 20 matters because it opens the third specialty slot: Gamjossi ran Drill Dart at 26 and Tempest Shot at 24 and says the levels past 20 made no difference, so he uses rings to bring the skills he needs to 20.

Target Active skills Who says so
20 in every list  Deadshot,  Gale Arrow Gamjossi, CHEONHAJIN, Rene, BBANGHOBBANG, Eddu PG
20 in most lists  Drill Dart Gamjossi, CHEONHAJIN, Rene, Eddu PG; BBANGHOBBANG only if you are uneasy without it
20 or 16  Snipe,  Tempest Shot Snipe: 20 for Gamjossi, CHEONHAJIN and Eddu PG, 16 for Rene. Tempest Shot: 20 for Gamjossi in July and Eddu PG, 16 for Gamjossi in August and Rene; CHEONHAJIN took it to 20 but calls it optional
20 in September's Korean lists  Snare Shot Rene and BBANGHOBBANG, for the Shackling Arrow chain while keeping it mobile; 12 for Gamjossi and CHEONHAJIN
12 or less  Marking Shot,  Defiance,  Explosion Trap Marking Shot and Defiance at 12 (Gamjossi, CHEONHAJIN); Explosion Trap at 8 to 10 (Gamjossi), 8 or 12 (Rene)
Optional or unused  Burst Arrow,  Arrow Scattershot,  Suppressing Arrow Burst Arrow optional: 12 or 16 for Gamjossi, who runs 20 himself but does not recommend it; 20 with HP absorb for CHEONHAJIN, otherwise two options from 12; 20 for Eddu PG; Arrow Scattershot at 16 for Rene; Suppressing Arrow unused in PvE

Rene's reason for stopping Snipe at 16 is the Arcana: the cards that raise Snipe and Burst Arrow compete with the levels for your two main passives, and he says the passives win.

Every end-game source puts Focused Eye and Hunter's Resolve first among the passives. Focused Eye adds Accuracy, PvE and PvP Damage Boost and Double Chance; Hunter's Resolve adds Critical Damage Boost. CHEONHAJIN rates Focused Eye the more important, and Aion Yeonguso's estimates agree: about 0.63% damage per Focused Eye level against about 0.4% for Hunter's Resolve. In Korea, Gamjossi wants Focused Eye at 35 or more and Hunter's Resolve at 30 or more, and Rene 36 and 32 or more. BBANGHOBBANG says that with so few actives worth taking, passive levels are where your effort belongs. Beyond those two the sources split: Rene takes Concentrated Fire to 20 and calls Wind Vigor a must for its stamina and the move speed it gives when you are hit, while Gamjossi calls Concentrated Fire, Rooting Eye, Melee Fire and Hunter's Soul trash.

Stigmas for PvE and PvP

Stigmas act as a secondary skill line, offering essential buffs and utility.

Stigma skills require character level 22 in the game data. Each one costs a shard to acquire, then 1 shard per level up to 5, 2 per level to 10, 4 per level to 15 and 8 per level to 20: 75 shards to take one stigma to 20. A stigma gains a perk every five levels and keeps it once reached. Four could be equipped at first, then five and later six as the game progressed, according to Madsin.

Stigma What it does The perks that matter
 Vaizel's Authority +20% Attack for 10 s 5: +10% Perfect Chance. 10: Focused Eye x1.5. 15: Hunter's Soul x1.5. 20: 50% chance to cut all cooldowns by 1 s on a Critical Hit
Bow of Blessing +200 Critical Hit and +100 Accuracy for 10 s 5: +50% Multi-Hit Chance. 10: Attack that scales with Critical Hit. 15: +20 Critical Damage Boost. 20: +7% Double Chance
 Supporting Fire An orb for 15 s with a 25% chance to fire a shot that absorbs 1.5% HP 5: +25% activation chance. 10: +15 s duration. 15: -30 s cooldown. 20: every shot a Critical Hit
Griffon Arrow Hits up to four enemies and burns them with Crimson Flames for 10 s 5: usable while moving. 10: +5 s burn. 15: Enhanced Crimson Flames. 20: -50% Damage over Time interval
Explosive Arrow Hits up to four enemies, 20% more damage to targets with Slow or Root 5: -15 s cooldown. 10: +10% more to Slowed or Rooted targets. 15: always a Critical Hit
Arrow Storm Hits up to four enemies, 50 Stagger Gauge Damage, always stuns NPCs 5: up to +20% damage when more targets are hit. 10: Slow for 10 s
Mother Nature's Breath +20% PvE and +10% PvP Damage Tolerance for 6 s, with a 50% chance to absorb 25% of damage taken as HP 5: removes and grants immunity to Damage over Time. 10: Vigilant Eye x1.5
Ambush Kick Moves behind a target within 5 m, knocks it back and moves you back 5: +5 m range. 10: a Protective Shield of 10% Max HP

Domo pairs Arrow Storm with Explosion Trap: both stun NPCs outright, so a pack of four stays locked down for the two stuns in a row.

The order to fill them:

steps

  1. From level 22, take four or five to 5. aLuckyRO's fresh 45 has Vaizel's Authority, Explosive Arrow, Griffon Arrow and Arrow Storm at 5 and Mother Nature's Breath at 4, 24 shards in all. He skips the Arrow Storm the game suggests first and starts with Explosive Arrow for its low cooldown and high damage; level 5 takes 15 seconds off its cooldown.
  2. Build toward the Korean five. Gamjossi, CHEONHAJIN and Rene all run Vaizel's Authority, Bow of Blessing, Supporting Fire, Griffon Arrow and Explosive Arrow, and aLuckyRO's full guide brings in Bow of Blessing and Supporting Fire as well.
  3. Push Vaizel's Authority first. Gamjossi and Rene take it to 25 first, and CHEONHAJIN takes it there too, when they push stigmas past 20 in Korea, a step global does not have at launch. Its level-10 perk multiplies Focused Eye by 1.5, and its level-20 perk can cut every cooldown by a second on a crit, which CHEONHAJIN says keeps Marking Shot and Gale Arrow running.
  4. Then the other two buffs. Rene ranks Supporting Fire above Bow of Blessing, and aLuckyRO says Supporting Fire gets good once its level-10 perk adds 15 seconds to it. Bow of Blessing's +50% Multi-Hit Chance arrives at 5.
  5. Pick the sixth by fight. Mother Nature's Breath for defense, whose level-5 perk clears Damage over Time and which Gamjossi brings for bleeds and poisons later on; Ambush Kick to reposition, which Gamjossi uses in early dungeons and Rene to get back in front of a boss; or Illusory Arrow, Rene's pick for top damage once it has two uses at 20.

Daevanion board priorities

Ranger scales cleanly through the offensive boards.

Full KR/TW Route (8 Boards)

steps

  1. Nestaken (Nezekan) — Combat Speed and Attack Ranger needs faster execution and stronger shots.
  2. Gikkel (Zikel) — Damage Boost Follow the damage route immediately.
  3. Bai Jie (Vaizel) — Critical Damage Boost Direct damage multiplier once base offense is established.
  4. Trinelle (Triniel) — Multi-hit Chance Take Multi-hit before resistance nodes.
  5. Ariel — PvE Offense & Boss Damage Essential for endgame PvE DPS.
  6. Aspel (Azphel) — PvP Offense Focus on burst and penetration for PvP.
  7. Markutan (Marchutan) & Eusdier (Yustiel) Low priority; spend leftover points on flat HP or situational cooldowns.

Macro setup for Rangers

Aion 2 provides an in-game macro editor that allows you to chain abilities together on a single hotkey. For Rangers, this is mostly used to consolidate your buffs and core damage sequence.

the macro editor with a buff placed in the first slot of the chain

A Ranger macro being built with the buffs first, Bow of Blessing at the top of the chain. Source: aLuckyRO In Tab Target mode, Snipe functions as a true auto-attack and will repeatedly fire without additional input. In Action Combat mode, Snipe does not automatically repeat, meaning you must manually trigger it.

steps

  1. Set your macro delay based on ping. If your ping is between 80-100, set the delay to 40-50ms. If your ping is under 50, set the delay to 10ms. You can test if your delay is correct by watching your character's shadow animations.
  2. Create a buff and damage macro. Start the macro line with your perfect chance, critical, and multi-hit buffs. Follow the buffs with Gale Arrow and Drill Dart.
  3. Create a secondary crowd-control macro. Start this macro with a root skill, followed by abilities that deal bonus damage to rooted targets.

Keep your explosion skill and highest-damage burst skills out of your macros; aLuckyRO casts these manually since they're high priority and he wants direct control over them.

PvE play: grinding and dungeons

Your PvE loop consists of constantly moving and maintaining your MP and HP pools. For solo farming, lean on skills with HP absorption like Drill Dart to sustain your health.

When fighting dungeon bosses, you must pay close attention to the boss's stagger bar. Use Arrow Storm early to deal the required stagger gauge damage. Once the stagger hits, switch to Arrow Scattershot, which can only hit a Staggered target; with the specialty aLuckyRO takes, every hit absorbs 5% HP, and he uses it to refill his health.

PvP play

Positioning in PvP is a matter of life and death for a fragile Ranger. Rely on movement skills to stay out of the melee fray.

In Korean PvP, surviving burst damage is the primary hurdle. This is why Flat HP and Critical Resistance are considered the most important stats to survive PvP burst damage.

Offensively, Explosion Trap is an important PvP crowd-control tool. Explosion Trap must be leveled to 16 for PvP because the +1 consecutive use specialty that opens at that level is crucial for maintaining pressure.

Class-specific gearing

When choosing gear and accessories, your decisions should be dictated by two stats: Multi-hit chance and Combat Speed. aLuckyRO calls these the Ranger's two most important stats for gear, accessories, and weapon choice.

the Triniel Daevanion board with a multi-hit chance node tooltip open

Strengths and weaknesses

comparison

Strengths:

  • Extremely high sustained damage output.
  • Incredible mobility; deals almost all of its damage while actively kiting.
  • Strong self-healing through HP absorption skills.

Weaknesses:

  • Very fragile "paper" defense. If caught by a boss mechanic, you will likely die instantly.
  • Heavily reliant on MP management. Spamming abilities blindly leaves you empty.

Aion 2 Ranger FAQ

FAQ

Which skills should I level first on a Ranger?

Snipe and Tempest Shot, your left and right click, at every level your character allows; Domo, Ojijo and Taegi all start there. Then Focused Eye and Hunter's Resolve among the passives, and Explosion Trap and Deadshot toward 10 as your level allows, the two aLuckyRO maxes alongside Tempest Shot.

When do I get my first specialty?

At skill level 8. Snipe, Snare Shot and Tempest Shot can reach it at character level 19, because a skill goes up one level every three character levels after you learn it. Deadshot, learned at 14, reaches it at 32 on points alone.

How many skill points will I have at level 45?

aLuckyRO counts about 250 on a freshly levelled Gladiator and around 420 at end game; his freshly levelled Ranger had spent about 265 by our count, part of it from the Monolith. A skill costs 21 points to reach 10, so that is enough for about a dozen skills at 10, not all 22.

What stats should a Ranger prioritize?

Multi-hit chance and Combat Speed are your most important offensive stats. In PvP, you also need Flat HP and Critical Resistance to survive burst damage.

How do I manage MP on a Ranger?

While levelling, take -20% MP consumed on Tempest Shot and +20% MP restored on Snipe at skill level 8, as aLuckyRO does; together they keep your basic attacks feeding the mana pool. At end game Gamjossi drops the Tempest Shot option for damage and suggests taking the MP on Snipe instead if you still need it.

What macro delay should I use?

Set your macro delay based on your ping. Use 40-50ms for 80-100 ping, and 10ms if your ping is under 50.

Which Daevanion nodes should I avoid?

Rene's July tests showed that flat-damage passives like Concentrated Fire, Hunter's Soul, Rooting Eye, and Melee Fire offered almost no DPS increase, though by September he was raising Concentrated Fire and Hunter's Soul again.
